Robert Crawford's originally song "Wild Blue Yonder" was written for the USAAC (United States Army Air Corps) in 1939 to participate in a competition and it won. It went along to be the song of the USAAF (United States Army Air Force), then after revisions became the song of the modern USAF (United States Air Force).
