Description
Another one of my favorite instrumentals from the underrated and often overlooked guitarist Roy Buchanan. He has a distinct style of guitar playing but you can hear quite an impressive and wide range of music influences in this track including Country, Blues, and Rock.
The original "Sweet Dreams (Of You)" was a Country ballad written and first performed by the legendary Don Gibson back in 1955. Many other artists have covered this song such as Patsy Cline, and Emmylou Harris.
This instrumental version by Roy Buchanan is definitely my favorite cover version. His guitar takes you on a whirlwind of emotions from start to finish. Buchanan certainly uses his instrument to take his listeners along a dream-like journey as a clever way to tap directly into the title of the song. The song was used by the iconic film director Martin Scorsese during the end credits to his popular Boston crime drama "The Departed" in 2006.
