What would you do if you lived in a place with no roads, no electricity, and no water?

2,085 islands. This is China's largest archipelago – the Zhoushan Archipelago. Once plagued by inconvenient transportation, power shortages, and water scarcity. But right here, an unprecedented mega-connection has taken place.

Yes, no roads? We will build it, until the islands are connected to the mainland🌉

No electricity? We will bring power, until the lights of thousands of houses illuminate a corner of the East China Sea ⚡

No water? We will divert water, until freedom of water access for all 1.17 million residents 💦.

This story is the beginning of the Institute for Plane's series "China Has No Isolated Islands".

In this series, we will record the decades-long endeavor where generations of Chinese people have persevered, traversed mountains and rivers ⛰, crossed rivers and seas 🌊. It is their efforts that have made the "remote" no longer hard to reach, and "isolated islands" no longer lonely.
