A moderate Billboard hit from exactly 40 years ago when singer/songwriter Lauren Wood who published under the moniker 'Chunky' reached the Top 25 with her duet with Doobie Michael McDonald. 'Please Don't Leave' is quintessential Middle of the Road Adult Contemporary Pop! Lauren provided songs for Nicolette Larson among others and recorded a couple of solo albums. She is best known for the cover version of her own song 'Fallen' (Nicolette had included it on her 1979 LP) on the Pretty Woman soundtrack in 1989. Michael McDonald was perhaps at the peak of his vocal powers and success as 'What A Fool Believes' was about to be named Record of The Year at the Grammy's and he also helped Nicolette score a minor hit with 'Let Me Go Love' and he also provided vocals on Christopher Cross' eponymous album which a year later would win 5 Grammy awards.
