Description
I'm a big fan of country jazz guitar and especially Fender offset guitars like the Jazzmaster or Jaguar. One of the biggest endorsers of the Jazzmaster was Roy Lanham. He was considered one of America's greatest unknown jazz guitar virtuosos. In addition to thousands of recordings as a studio guitarist, he released a few records under his own name. Among other things, he was rhythm guitarist on Chet Atkins' first recording, the Guitar Blues. See at 1:27 in the video. In 1959 Lanham recorded four songs on an EP for record man Jack Ames, who never found an outlet to release them. Ultimately the EP was released on Sundazed in 2014 (SEP 285). See at 00:59 in the video.
