There is quite a bit to wrap your head around in this song if you're not use to the style. As always take it slow to start. Some of the song is easier to 'feel' than count. The verse riff for example I tend to rely on muscle memory, however the end section I count to keep track as described a bit further down.
A lot of this song is down picked too so it's a good song to practise as it's mid tempo and great to practise really digging in with your picking hand. It's also super satisfying to wallop that low F!
There's a lot of patterns and repetition in this song in various ways. Quite often sections can be broken down into phrases.
Eg the intro riff I count as a mix of 6 beat and 4 beat phrases. At 0:23 the first 6 beat phrase starts on the 14th fret, then there is a 4 beat descending phrase also starting on the 14th fret, then another 6 beat phrase that starts on the 13th fret. This section then repeats to form the intro section.
Outro riff breakdown
The easiest way I've found to break down this section is to see it as a combination of high notes followed by a series of 1 & 0 on the low F.
It's a mix of high notes followed by five sets of -1-0.
The high notes follow a pattern of;
two high notes
four high notes
three high notes
five high notes
Or:
5 3, (1st time)
5 3 2 4 (2nd time)
5 3 2 (3rd time)
5 3 2 4 5 (4th time)
