This song was written by Albert Collins along with Casey Jones, A.C. Reed, Larry Burton, and Johnny B. Gayden, and uses the clever metaphor that if all his troubles were money, he'd be a millionaire: “If trouble was money, babe, I’d swear I’d be a millionaire.” “Worry, worry, worry… I had worries all my life.” “My mother used to tell me… ‘Son, there gonna be days like this… I want you to be a winner… don’t quit.’”
Musically, it's pure Texas blues: gritty vocals, electrifying guitar solos, and his signature Telecaster tone which he achieves by using a capo and open F‑minor tuning.
This live version was probably held at the Fort Mason Blues Festival in San Francisco in 1990, but there is no evidence that he has played "If Trouble Was Money" at that venue. Another source suggest the 1990 live performance of "If Trouble Was Money" was more likely at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.
