Translating the main theme song (片頭曲) “Pure Heart in the Moonlight" ((清心照明月) from The Romantic Swordsman 1995 (小李飛刀) into English.

Original Cantonese Song by William So (蘇永康).

The TVB series "The Romantic Swordsman" was produced in 1995 and is very loosely based on the "Sentimental Swordsman, Ruthless Heart" (多情劍客無情劍) novel from the "Little Li Flying Daggers" series which was written by Gu Long (古龍). I say a "loose" adaptation, but it's really a TVB fanfic using Gu Long's characters. The plot had very little resemblance to the novel, which was disappointing.

Because of on an ongoing pay dispute, supporting actors from the 1980's were given star roles. This is not to say that Eddie Kwan (關禮傑) didn't play the lead role of Lǐ Xúnhuān (李尋歡) well. Quite the opposite. I enjoyed the performance for what it is. The next cast member that I liked was Gigi Fu (傅明憲) as Lín Xiān-ér (林仙兒). Emily Kwan (關寶慧) was in the cast and she did well too as Lín Shīyīn (林詩音). I couldn't stand Chin Ka Lok (錢嘉樂) as Āfēi (阿飛), nor did I like how Afei was portrayed. I really hated the series as a kid. I had just read the novels. Then watched the movie adaptations "Perils of the Sentimental Swordsman" and Return of the Sentimental Swordsman". I was really looking forward to a truthful adaptation and then I got this... I was so annoyed... This opinion hasn't changed but I do love the two songs from this series though. Hence the translations.

This song which I titled "Pure Heart in the Moonlight" is sung by William So. Whilst a good song, doesn't have same punch and catch of the song of the 1970's series. Still a great song so please enjoy it...
